Financial Services

“After 12 years at a Big Four firm where I barely saw the engagement partner twice a year, switching to LedgerWise felt almost strange. Richard Holt was in every material meeting. He knew our fund structure, our LP agreements, and our regulatory position. That’s what audit is supposed to look like.”

Matias Lucas

Villa Owner

Real Estate

“Fixed fee, transparent process, management letter that actually contained useful observations rather than boilerplate. Every year I read the management letter first, before the audit report. That’s how good it is. Our board now uses LedgerWise’s observations as input to the risk register. That’s the standard.”

Sophia Sterling

CEO - Neural Farm

Healthcare

“Research cost capitalisation in pharma is extraordinarily complex. Our previous auditors issued a clean opinion every year without meaningfully challenging our judgements. LedgerWise challenged three of our capitalisation decisions in Year 1, two of which they were right about. That’s the audit you want.”

John Dexell

CFO - Reaford

Manufacturing

“Seven donor compliance audits — USAID, EU, FCDO, and four others — completed in a single three-week fieldwork window. Our previous firm needed four months to do the same work. The LedgerWise team understood donor requirements without being briefed on them. That’s rare.”

Eleanor Vance

Head Marketing - Harmony Group

Manufacturing

“We were facing transfer pricing challenges from two tax authorities simultaneously. LedgerWise produced benchmarking documentation and defended our position in both jurisdictions. Zero penalties assessed. The forensic detail in their technical analysis was unlike anything I’d seen from a firm our size.”

Ricardo Solomon

Director Siloam Hospital

Technology

“As a Series B company preparing for institutional investors, we needed more than a statutory audit — we needed a partner who understood venture-backed business models. Amara Lowe’s CFO Advisory work helped us reframe our financial story in ways that materially improved our Series C terms.”

General

About LedgerWise, how we work, and what makes us different.

What makes LedgerWise different from a Big Four firm ?

The fundamental difference is the partner model. At most large firms, a partner sells the engagement, attends the kick-off meeting, and signs the final report — with the actual work delegated to rotating teams of senior managers, managers, and graduates who change from year to year.

At LedgerWise, the partner you meet in your first call is the partner who leads every meeting, reviews every working paper, and is personally accountable for the quality of the output. This is a structural commitment, not a marketing promise.

The second difference is independence. We’re not part of a global network with audit independence conflicts, regulated audit partner rotation across affiliated practices, or commercial pressures to sell you consulting work through the audit. What we recommend is always in your interest.

LedgerWise was founded in 2006 by four partners who left Big Four firms. We have been operating for over 18 years, with 42 partners and more than 180 professionals across offices in London, New York, and Singapore.

Our average client tenure is 9 years — which we believe is the most accurate measure of how well we’re doing our job.

We work with companies ranging from Series A startups preparing for their first statutory audit to NYSE-listed enterprises requiring PCAOB-registered assurance. Our sweet spot is growth-stage companies — typically £2M to £200M in revenue — where quality financial advice has real strategic impact rather than being treated as a compliance box-tick.

That said, size is less relevant than complexity. A £3M healthcare company with significant grant funding, regulatory oversight, and complex revenue recognition may need more sophisticated support than a £20M distribution business with straightforward accounts.

Yes. We have active clients in 12 countries. Our offices in New York and Singapore mean we have partner-level presence in North America and Asia-Pacific. For group audits with subsidiary entities in other jurisdictions, we coordinate with local correspondent firms — always with a LedgerWise partner retaining overall engagement responsibility.

We are registered with the PCAOB for US-listed entities and can audit companies reporting under US GAAP, IFRS, or applicable local GAAP frameworks.

Yes, and it’s more common than you might think. We manage auditor transitions frequently — including in situations where the outgoing firm has been dismissed or has resigned. We have a clear handover protocol that includes reviewing prior-year working papers (where access is granted), communicating with your previous auditor as required under professional standards, and agreeing opening balances.

Mid-year changes work best when initiated before the financial year-end. Contact us as soon as you know you want to change — the earlier we start the transition, the smoother it will be.

Yes, as far as possible. Every client has a named partner who is their primary relationship holder — and we work hard to maintain team continuity year on year. The partner who leads Year 1 leads Year 5.

For regulated audit engagements, we comply with any mandatory partner rotation requirements (e.g. seven-year rotation for listed entities in some jurisdictions), but even in those cases, a different LedgerWise partner takes over rather than the account being transferred to a different firm.
